Angelo: The idea for the firm started June 8th, 2009, when I was in the hospital with my wife and with our second. He had just been born. I just decided it was time. I wanted to do my own thing. I, you know, got to that point where I said I'm going to put my own stake in the ground and told my partners the next day. It literally happened that quickly. I took one or two people and a secretary. And then, by the time I left, Ed kind of was also . . . The firm was different at that point. Things were different, the personalities were different.
Edward: I thought this was a great opportunity for me to practice law the way I like to practice law. And so that's the reason. And when I had the opportunity to join Angelo, I grabbed it.
Angelo: And that was 10 years, and we never had a fight.
Edward: Never, ever. It's grown beyond my wildest expectations.
Angelo: In the last 10 years, we've grown from that core group of 4 or 5 attorneys to 25 attorneys, and we have three offices now, the main one being Roseland, Bridgewater and Hackensack. And those are geographically picked based on where our business is generated. And the people that have joined over the course of time have been the same type of person, the same personality. When we are hiring somebody or someone is joining on laterally, it seems like it's always a fit and that's I think because of the specific qualities that we want in that person. From office administration, from the file clerk, it comes really down to, you know, at the end of the day, everyone spends a lot of time together at the office and we want everyone to be, you know, we want everyone to like each other and cohesive and we do a lot of things that make sure that everything stays that way.
Edward: I think we are all good lawyers and that we treat each other respectfully, we treat our clients respectfully, and it pays off in the long run.
Angelo: We're known generally on the litigation side as aggressive attorneys that know how to try a case and can litigate.
Edward: Our firm is very involved in the legal community. We have lawyers who just about everybody goes to Inns of Court. Many of us are members of an organization called the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Angelo: We originate clients for the most part, if not the entire part, is from client referrals. So we do a good job for a client, get the case over with, get a good result and that person tells five people. I mean, that's just the way it is.
Edward: Did you ever dream in your wildest dreams that you would be in the firm, your firm, our firm with 25 lawyers?
Angelo: I pinch myself every day.
Edward: Is that good or bad?
