                   EDWARD S. SNYDER
                           1940 - 2023

Roseland, New Jersey (February 2023)

There are few words to express the sorrow of losing our partner, mentor and friend, Edward “Ed” S. Snyder, who passed on February 3, 2023.  Ed was a Founding Partner in the firm’s Family Law practice group.

Ed was a dignified, skilled and well-respected family law attorney for over 50 years.  Throughout his impressive career, he received many honors and recognitions for his work in the legal profession, including being honored by the New Jersey Bar Association as a recipient of the Saul Tischler Award for his lifetime achievement in family law.  He was also awarded the Silver Shingle from Boston University School of Law for outstanding service to the legal profession.  He served as Chair of the District VC Ethics Committee, the Family Practice Committee and Supreme Court Committees. He was a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.  He successfully argued before the Supreme Court of New Jersey on the nationally recognized case of Konzelman v. Konzelman, which focused on the termination of alimony as a result of cohabitation.

Angelo Sarno, Founding Partner and Chair of the Family Law practice group at Snyder Sarno D’Aniello Maceri & da Costa LLC said, “In 2009, when I decided to break out on my own and start a firm, Ed took a leap of faith and decided to join me.  It made absolutely no sense to me that someone with his experience and cache would want to join me. We never looked back.”  He said, “Ed was first and foremost a gentleman.  In the 25 years I have known and worked alongside Ed, we never had an argument, never a fight, never a mean email, a mean text, never a misunderstanding, never.  Ed had a great sense of humor and loved talking to everybody in the office, he had no favorites.”

Ed Snyder is survived by his wife, Gail Margolis; his sons, Bill and Bob; and his daughter, Gabby. Ed resided in Denville, New Jersey and Boca Raton, Florida.  He enjoyed watching sports, most notably the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants.  He loved fine dining, good wine, viewing movies and talking about those movies with others.

Ed will be greatly missed, but we will never forget him or the joy that he brought to the firm.
