14 Attorneys Selected to the 2020 Edition of New Jersey Super Lawyers

Snyder Sarno D'Aniello Maceri & da Costa LLC is very pleased to announce that more than half of our bench (fourteen attorneys) have been selected to the 2020 New Jersey Super Lawyers or Rising Stars lists published by Thomson Reuters.* Four of our attorneys were further featured as they were selected to the Top 100 List.

The list is generated using a patented selection process involving three basic steps: creation of the candidate pool using peer nominations; evaluations of candidate by the research department; and peer evaluation by practice area.

Meet the Attorney’s being recognized who provide service and direct access to clients throughout all of New Jersey:

Angelo Sarno, Esq.
Angelo Sarno founded the firm of Snyder Sarno D’Aniello Maceri & da Costa LLC, and is a Certified Matrimonial Law Attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey.** Mr. Sarno has been included on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Super Lawyers list since its inception in 2005. In 2009 & 2020 he was selected by his peers to be featured on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Super Lawyers 100 Top list of matrimonial lawyers.* As an experienced litigator, Mr. Sarno has argued successfully before the Supreme Court of New Jersey, establishing important precedent regarding the enforceability of oral palimony agreements.     

Edward S. Snyder, Esq.
Edward S. Snyder is a founding partner of SSDMD with more than 40 years of experience in matrimonial litigation. He is a recipient of the Saul Tischler Award from the Family Law Section of the New Jersey Bar and has been selected to on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Super Lawyers Top 100 list in 2017 and 2018.* Mr. Snyder has argued before the Supreme Court of New Jersey on three occasions, including the seminal case addressing the termination of alimony, Konzelman v. Konzelman, in which he represented the winning side. Mr. Snyder’s has been included on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Super Lawyers list consecutively since its inception in 2005.*

Jerry S. D'Aniello, Esq.
Jerry S. D’Aniello is the managing partner of the firm’s Bridgewater office and practices in all aspects of matrimonial law, including mediation and arbitration. He is the immediate past President of the American Academy of Matrimonial lawyers – NJ chapter as well as a Fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Jerry was included on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Rising Stars list from 2006 - 2007 and has been named among New Jersey Super Lawyers list consecutively since 2010.* In 2020 Jerry was selected for inclusion on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Super Lawyers Top 100 list.*

Joseph V. Maceri, Esq.
Joseph V. Maceri is the managing partner of the firm’s Hackensack office and dedicates his practice to all aspects of family law. Joe is a Certified Matrimonial Law Attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey** and has been selected for inclusion on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Super Lawyers list since 2017.* In 2020, Joe was selected for inclusion on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Super Lawyers Top 100 list.* Prior to that he was included on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Rising Stars list from 2012 through 2016.*

Paul M. da Costa, Esq.
Paul M. da Costa is a partner at SSDMD, and manages the firm’s medical malpractice/personal injury practice. He is a certified civil trial attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey.** Paul is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA)^*** and a Fellow of the prestigious Litigation Counsel of America. Fellowship in the Litigation Counsel of America is by invitation only and is composed of less than one-half of one percent of all American lawyers. He has been included on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Super Lawyer list since 2017.* This year, Paul was also selected for inclusion on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Super Lawyers Top 100 list.* In 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016, Mr. da Costa was included on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Rising Stars list.*

Scott D. Danaher, Esq.
Scott D. Danaher is a partner of SSDMD based in the Roseland office. Scott has concentrated his entire legal career on divorce and other family law-related matters. Scott has lectured for the Volunteer Lawyers for Justice and volunteers with The Battered Women's Legal Advocacy Project to represent victims of domestic violence. Scott was selected for inclusion on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Rising Stars list from 2009-2018.* This year, Scott was selected for inclusion on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Super Lawyer list 2020.

Adelaide Riggi, Esq.
Adelaide Riggi, a partner in the firm’s Bridgewater office, devotes her practice exclusively to all aspects of divorce and family law. She joined the firm in 2016, expanding our Somerset County footprint. She is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Law Attorney,** and has been selected for inclusion on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Super Lawyers list since 2017.* Prior to that, Adelaide was named for inclusion on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Rising Stars list in 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2015.* Adelaide is also Chair of the Somerset County Bar Foundation, a nonprofit organization that reaches out to the public and local legal community to offer programs, services and funding.

Daniel B. Devinney, Esq.
Daniel B. Devinney, recently became a partner at SSDMD, prior to that he served as counsel to the firm. Daniel has successfully handled over a hundred cases worth millions of dollars. He has intimate knowledge of the strategy and tactics utilized by the defense to successfully defend medical malpractice claims, and will now utilize that knowledge to obtain outstanding results for injured patients. Daniel focuses his practice on complex personal injury matters, including medical malpractice, products liability, mass torts, and catastrophic personal injury cases. In 2020, Daniel was selected for inclusion on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Rising Stars list.*

Emily R. Carstensen, Esq.
Emily R. Carstensen serves as counsel to the firm and devotes her practice exclusively to matrimonial and family law. Additionally, Emily provides pro bono legal representation for victims of domestic violence through the Battered Women’s Legal Advocacy Program. Emily is regularly appointed by the judiciary and her peers as Guardian Ad Litem and Parenting Coordinator to represent the best interests of children in custody and parenting time matters. Emily provides pro bono legal advice through the JBWS legal clinic.  Her hard work and dedication has landed her recognition within the legal community, as she has been included in Thomson Reuter’s Rising Stars list each year since 2012.*

Cynthia A. Walters, Esq.
Cynthia A. Walters joined SSDMD in 2019. She acts as counsel to the Medical Malpractice, Personal Injury and Product Liability team here at Snyder Sarno D'Aniello Maceri & da Costa LLC. Ms. Walters is a Certified Civil Trial Attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey.** She has dedicated her practice to standing up for those who are not capable of doing so themselves. Her resolve to help others is reflected in multiple successful verdicts and settlements and precedent-setting Federal and State Appellate Court opinions. She has successfully faced down medical and manufacturing giants in both Federal and State courtrooms. Cynthia has been included on Thomson Reuters’ New Jersey Super Lawyers list since its inception in 2005.*

Michael J. Weil, Esq.
Michael J. Weil joined Snyder Sarno D'Aniello Maceri & da Costa LLC in September 2018 as an associate. Since entering private practice, Michael has focused exclusively on all aspects of family law. Michael served as Membership Chairperson of the Hunterdon County Bar Association and provided pro bono representation through SAFE in Hunterdon to victims of domestic violence. Michael was named for inclusion on Thomson Reuter’s Rising Stars list 2019-2020.*

Charles C. Abut, Esq.
Charles C. Abut is Of Counsel for the firm and a Certified Matrimonial Law Attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey. Mr. Abut is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial lawyers and has made television appearances on ABC, CBS, MSNBC, and CNBC. In addition to his extensive experience in all aspects of matrimonial litigation, he has successfully mediated and arbitrated hundreds of cases. Michael J. Stanton, Esq.
Michael J. Stanton is Of Counsel for the firm and has been included on Thomson Reuter’s New Jersey Super Lawyers list consecutively since 2005.* He is a Certified Matrimonial Law Arbitrator by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. In 2010, he was selected by the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association to receive the Saul A. Tischler Award, a prestigious lifetime achievement award, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the practice of family law. In addition, he is trained as a Matrimonial Law Mediator and has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers for over twenty years.

John J. Trombadore, Esq.
John J. Trombadore is Of Counsel for the firm and has been selected on Thomson Reuter’s New Jersey Super Lawyers list consecutively since 2005.* In addition, he is Diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, Emeritus; Certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Matrimonial Law Attorney; Certified by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers as a Divorce Mediator. John Trombadore has played a significant role in the advancement and improvement of divorce and custody law in New Jersey over the past four decades.
