Country music singer Trace Adkins has settled his divorce case, according to TMZ.  Adkins and his wife, Rhonda, were married for 17 years.  Rhonda filed for divorce in March of 2014, citing irreconcilable differences as her reason.  At the time she filed, Rhonda asked for primary residential custody of their three daughters, in addition to child support, alimony, and legal fees to be paid by Trace.

Though unconfirmed, the impetus for divorce may have been Trace’s relapse with alcoholism, says Hollywood Life.  After 12 years of sobriety, he got into a drunken fight with a Trace Adkins impersonator on a cruise to Jamaica.  Subsequently, Trace checked into rehab.

Following private mediation, Trace and Rhonda worked out a property settlement agreement.  The divorce was settled “amicably,” Trace’s attorney told E! News.  The couple agreed that getting divorced was in the best interests of their family.  In addition to splitting up their $20 million fortune, they were able to work out a shared custody arrangement for their three daughters.  Uncommon in celebrity divorces, the Adkins were somehow able to keep most of their settlement agreement out of the public knowledge.  Now they are just waiting on the court to approve their agreement, and then their divorce will be official.
