Divorce: A Time for Celebration?

Going through a New Jersey divorce can be a very stressful and emotionally taxing time. Everyone copes with divorce in different ways, and it often can take a very long time to completely heal from the pain of divorce. A new way that people are dealing with the emotions from divorce and beginning the healing process, according to the Huffington Post, is to throw a divorce party.

These celebrations often include cakes with different toppers, sayings, and symbols, sit-down dinners, toasts, and more. One woman, according to the article, even had her father walk down the aisle to reclaim her as part of a celebration that cost $25,000.

In the Huffington Post article, many of the people involved in the event planning, cake baking, and legal aspects refer to the parties and cakes as “freedom fests” and “freedom cakes.” Many view it as a form of closure, when the final judgment of divorce has been entered after, most likely, a long process of deciding all of the legal issues involved in the divorce. The party is not only providing closure for the end of a marriage, but celebrating a new beginning in the person’s life.

It is always sad when a marriage ends, but through the sadness, you should also see that this is a new beginning for you and your family to start over again and live a happier life. Everyone mourns the end of a marriage differently, as well as celebrating their new beginning. A divorce party, no matter how big or how small, is just one way in which you can do that with your friends and family by your side and supporting you.
