VICE News Interview with Partner, Paul M. da Costa

By Paul da Costa on October 16, 2020

Partner, Paul M. da Costa, has been retained by more than 90 of the victims of the Menlo Park  and Paramus Veterans Homes  He has been leading the charge for accountability and justice since April, and he has been widely quoted and sought out for commentary by various media outlets.  In addition, Mr. da Costa has testified before the NJ Senate Health and Humans Services and Assembly Aging and Senior Services Committees about the need for accountability. The facilities were ravaged by the COVID-19 pandemic resulting in 101 residents at the Menlo Park Veterans Home and 89 residents at Paramus Veterans Home expiring from COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly impacted the healthcare industry among all other industries. Those who adapted quickly and enacted protocols to prevent the spread of the virus experienced lower impact, but the Menlo Park and Paramus Veterans Homes were unfortunately woefully unprepared. By failing to do so their gross negligence and reckless conduct put not only their staff in jeopardy but their residents as well. Both the Menlo Park and Paramus Veterans homes were greatly impacted. Neither facility was able to prevent the virus from claiming many of their residents’ lives. The death toll at the Menlo Park Veterans Home is the largest of all long-term care facilities in NJ, and it is number one for all state-run veterans homes in the country. While investigations are ongoing, it is clear that measures were not adequately taken to protect the community from the pandemic.

Mr. da Costa has been interviewed by various media outlets regarding his representation of the victims of the veterans homes, including the Wall Street Journal, Bergen Record, Star Ledger, The Guardian, NBC, NJTV, NJ12, and Vice News.  To view the Vice News Interview featuring Paul click on the link below:
