By now, most people know the dangers that accompany asbestos.  In addition, many have heard of extensive litigation involving those who were injured when they came into contact with asbestos.  In fact, asbestos litigation is still ongoing.  The Associated Press recently reported that a California woman was awarded $13 million when she won a case against Colgate-Palmolive Co. for injuries she suffered when she used Colgate’s talcum powder that contained asbestos.

After using the powder, the woman developed mesothelioma, a common side effect of asbestos and also a deadly cancer.  Though manufacturers have known of the harmful side effects of asbestos for more than 50 years, it is cases like this one that expose its continuing dangers.  Thus, the jury in this case, like others in asbestos litigation, found that Colgate negligently manufactured its talcum powder and failed to warn customers of associated risks.

If you or a loved one was diagnosed with cancer that could have been caused by asbestos, you may have a legal claim against the manufacturer that included the dangerous substance in its product.  Call Paul M. da Costa, Esq. at Sarno da Costa D’Aniello Maceri LLC at 973-274-5200 to discuss your rights.
